Judicature: Supreme Court - Constitution & Jurisdiction
- Article 176: Deals with the constitution of the Supreme Court, comprising the Chief Justice of Pakistan and other judges.
- Appointment of CJP: The Chief Justice of Pakistan is appointed by the President.
- Retirement: A Supreme Court judge holds office until attaining the age of 65 years (Article 179).
- Oath: Before entering office, the Chief Justice of Pakistan takes oath before the President.
- Article 175-A: Provides for the Judicial Commission of Pakistan for the appointment of judges of the Supreme Court, High Courts, and Federal Shariat Court โ inserted by the 18th Amendment.
- Article 182: Deals with the appointment of ad hoc judges of the Supreme Court.
- Article 184: Deals with the Original Jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, including disputes between governments and matters of public importance involving Fundamental Rights (184(3)).
- Article 185: Deals with the Appellate Jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.
- Article 186: Empowers the President to seek the Supreme Court's opinion on a question of law โ this is the Advisory Jurisdiction.
- Article 188: Grants the Supreme Court the power of review of its own judgments and orders.
