Objectives Resolution & Islamic Provisions
- Objectives Resolution: Moved by Liaquat Ali Khan and passed by the Constituent Assembly on 12th March, 1949. It laid down the guiding principles for all future constitutions of Pakistan.
- Sovereignty: According to the Objectives Resolution, sovereignty over the entire universe belongs to Almighty Allah alone, and the authority exercised by the people of Pakistan is a sacred trust.
- Annexed as Article 2A: The Objectives Resolution was made a substantive part of the Constitution as Article 2A by the Eighth Amendment (1985).
- Name of the State: The Constitution of 1973 declares Pakistan to be the "Islamic Republic of Pakistan".
- Article 1: Defines "Pakistan and its territories" โ the Republic and its provinces, Islamabad Capital Territory, and other included/annexed areas.
- Article 2: Declares that "Islam shall be the State religion of Pakistan."
