Parliament: Qualification, Disqualification & Privileges of Members
- Article 62: Lays down the qualifications a person must fulfil to be elected or chosen as a member of Parliament (e.g., citizenship, being a registered voter, of good character, and adequate knowledge of Islamic teachings for Muslim members).
- Article 63: Lays down grounds of disqualification for membership of Parliament, applying to both the National Assembly and the Senate.
- Article 66: Deals with the privileges of Members of Parliament, including freedom of speech in Parliament and immunity from proceedings in respect of anything said or any vote given.
- Presiding Officer of Senate: Called the Chairman (as opposed to the Speaker in the National Assembly).
- Minimum age for Senate candidacy: A candidate for the Senate must be at least 30 years of age.
