Remand & Custody (Section 167)
- Section 167: Magistrate may authorize detention of accused for a term not exceeding 15 days.
- The Magistrate shall record his reasons after allowing further detention.
- A copy of the order regarding further remand shall be forwarded to the Sessions Judge.
- Section 167(5): Further remand of a female accused, supported by reasons, can be allowed in cases of Qatl or Dacoity (Both).
- A female accused shall not be kept out of prison during custody between sunset and sunrise.
