Restrictions on Right of Appeal (Ss. 412โ414-A)
- Section 412: Where an accused has pleaded guilty and been convicted by a High Court, Court of Session, or Magistrate of First Class on such plea, there shall be no appeal except as to the extent or legality of the sentence.
- Ground of appeal in guilty-plea cases: Limited to the legality of sentence.
- Section 413: No appeal can be made in petty cases.
- No appeal against: An order of imprisonment in default of fine, and certain summary convictions (All of these).
- Section 414-A: No appeal lies where a special Magistrate passes a fine up to Rs. 5000 pertaining to price control.
