Key Legal Definitions โ II (Property, Dishonesty, Fraud)
- Moveable property: Corporeal property of every description except land and things attached to earth or permanently fastened to anything.
- Wrongful gain (s.23): Gain by unlawful means of property to which the gainer is not legally entitled.
- Wrongful loss (s.23): Loss caused by unlawful means of property to a person legally entitled to it.
- Dishonestly (s.24): Doing anything with intention of causing wrongful gain to one person or wrongful loss to another.
- Fraudulently (s.25): A person who intends to defraud commits an act "fraudulently."
- Counterfeit (s.28): Causing one thing to resemble another, intending or knowing it likely that deception will be practiced by that resemblance.
- Document (s.29): Any matter expressed or described on any substance by letters, figures, or marks. A map or plan intended to be used as evidence is also a "document."
- Valuable security: e.g., an endorsement on a bill of exchange transferring the right to the bill.
- Will (s.31): Any testamentary document.
