Ijma (Consensus of Opinion)
Ijma acts as a binding source of Islamic Law when consensus is achieved.
- Definition: Ijma refers to the consensus of opinion when the Ulma-e-Karam agree upon a particular solution to a Shariah issue.
- Constitution: Ijma may be legally constituted by a decision expressed either in the words of jurists or by the practice of jurists.
- Methodology (Takhrij): Under the principles of Takhrij, a jurist must first investigate whether the case under examination has already been settled by Ijma.
